Subject: Back-up Alarm Field Installation
Description:
In response to dealer inquiries relative to the proper procedure on how to field install a back-
up alarm, the following scenarios have been developed to assist you with this installation and
to provide you with direction relative to when the accessory driver module is needed.
Continuous Operation:
If continuous operation is required for forward and reverse, the accessory driver module is not
required. Back-up alarm installation can be accomplished by plugging the alarm harness into
the X-22 connector found on the main truck wire harness. Use wire 95B as the positive and
wire 13 as the negative at the X-22 connector. This will allow the alarm to sound as long as
the key switch is in the on position.
Specific Direction:
For a specifically chosen direction of forward or reverse, the accessory driver (P/N 2036996) is
required. Note: The wire orientation must be verified on the X-21 connector found on the main
truck wire harness, before connecting the module (Refer to 2nd page for correct wire
orientation).
Back-up alarm installation can be accomplished by plugging the module into the X-21 main
truck wire harness connector. To choose the proper direction for operating the alarm, plug
wire 6C (Forward) or 8C (Reverse) into the X-21 plug. (Refer to 2nd page for correct wire
orientation)
Note: The main truck harness comes with wire 8C (Reverse) already positioned in the X-21
plug.
After accomplishing this, move to the X-22 main truck wire harness connector and utilize wire
95B as the positive and 80 as the negative. Do not use wire 13F, wire 80 serves as the
negative for the X-21 module connection. This will allow the alarm to sound as long as the key
switch is in the on position with the operator on the platform and the specific direction for
operating the alarm is chosen.
