TO MAKE THE CARD:
Lightly tape the ivory fabric over the diagram on
the left and trace the design and the outer oval line
onto the fabric using either a fine pencil or one of
those pens that fade away. Put the fabric in an em-
broidery hoop and work the design as follows.
Use the enlarged photo and colour chart on the
next page to guide you for the direction of stitching
within each leaf and bract and for the colours used.
Begin with the red bracts using 2 strands of red
thread and satin stitch. Work each bract in two halves
from the centre line to the edge in the direction
shown. Once all the bracts are stitched use 1 strand
of dark red and work the centre veins in stem stitch.
Work all the leaves in satin stitch using deep green.
Use a single strand of deep olive for the Gypsophila
stems, work in stem stitch from the bottom and once
you reach the top bring the needle through to the
front and add a flower as follows.
Pass the needle through the hole in a flower sequin
then through a gold seed bead. Go back down
through the sequin and through to the back of the
12
Gypsophila & Bead
fabric. Pull the thread tight and
fasten at the back as usual.
Use 1 strand of deep olive to
stitch the green seed beads and
3mm gold beads to the Poinsettia
centres.
Cut a piece of card to the size of
the inner oval border on the poin-
settia diagram then cut the fabric
to about 1cm larger all around.
Stick the stitched design onto the
DMC ANCHOR MADEIRA
oval using the outer line (drawn
earlier) to help with the positioning.

piece of Buddha paper to same length as the card corner. Place a small piece of sticky fixer onto the
and half the width, stick in place with the left edge back of a star and stick over the same corner then
along the fold. add a silver glitter star on top too.
Pull a piece of angel hair to fit behind the oval Cut a piece of glitter vinyl to the size of the outer
design with a bit sticking out all around. Place it tag and white card to the size of the inner tag. Stick
the smaller one on top. Mount both onto the card
using sticky fixers and add the curved wording.
