TEC Setup instructions
Hardware Requirements
For each participant you need a minimum of:
1. An Intel"! or compatible system consisting of the following components:
2. 2.5 GHz or greater processor
3. 25 GB Hard drive for the image alone plus another 5 GB while image is running
4. 4 GB core host RAM (3 GB dedicated to image at runtime)
5. Keyboard
6. Mouse
7. Display (image set to 1024x768)
8. Network adapter (not needed at this time)
Snapshots
The image contains a two snapshots.
CLM & RRC PoT , used to deliver this CLM proof of technology.
RQM PoT used for another proof of technology.
Connectivity requirements
1. The VM network setting is set to NAT.
2. The host workstation does not need to be on the network.

Setting up the software image
The software image included in this PoT, requires:
1. We suggest you use VMware workstation; this was not tested with VMware player version. See
download details below.
2. VMware Image dated 28-Jun-2011 Minimum VMware Workstation version is 7.0.
3. Enable your workstation to run a 64bit VM (even if you have a 64bit OS)
1. VT must be enabled in the host system BIOS. The feature may be named VT, Vanderpool
Technology, Virtualization Technology, VMX, or Virtual Machine Extensions.
2. To power on the VMWare image, users must enable hardware virtualization in your computer s
BIOS. Instructions for Microsoft Windows on the ThinkPad follow:
1. Press the blue ThinkVantage key when prompted at startup
2. Press the F1 key to enter the BIOS setup utility
3. Using the arrow keys, scroll to Config and press the Enter key
4. Scroll to CPU and press the Enter Key
5. Scroll to Intel Virtualization Technology and press the Enter key
6. Select Enabled and depress the Enter key, press Enter key to continue
7. Press F10 key to save and exit
8. Select Yes and press the Enter key
9. Full shutdown (power off), wait a few seconds, and restart your computer (NOTE if F10
caused a reboot, that was a soft reboot. Do a full shutdown in order for the saved setting to be
recognized.)
3. After enabling VT in your system BIOS, save your changes and then turn off power to the system.
If you simply reboot the system without turning it off, VT is not enabled.
4. For more details, see: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?
language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1003944
How to download the VMware image
1. You will download the VMware from the Asset Library web site. All the VMware is zipped and split into
pieces of 700 MB each (except the last pieces). Your download will consist of 21 pieces and this may
take a while (few hours). Be patient.
2. All Files can be downloaded into the same temporary directory.
Page 3 IBM Rational solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management

3. Approximately 14 GB of disk is required to store all pieces and 29 GB after being expanded.
Presentations to be used
1. Day # 1 use presentations 1 - 6

How to install the VMware image
Attention: This image is NOT self extracting and you will need to unpack it using open source tools like
ExtractNow or WinRar.
See details on TEC web site:
http://nasoftware.ibm.com/sales/ctp.nsf/doc/MODM-7BQK7L
When doing the extract, point to a ROOT directory where you want to create the folder with all VMware
contents. Like E:\, D:\ or C:\

1. Open VMware Workstation and optionally adjust the settings of VMware Workstation.
1. Click Edit > Preferences.
2. Select the Memory tab.
3. In the Additional Memory section, select Fit all virtual machine memory into reserved host
RAM. This gives the best possible performance for the VM because it will run entirely in RAM.
Note only choose this if the memory allocated to the VM is less than or equal to the amount of
memory reserved for virtual machines on your host.
2. Confirm VM Settings
1. Memory is defaulted to 4096MB, however, adjust as needed to fit within the host machine's
available memory.
2. On Processors settings, Number of Processors should be set to 2
3. On Display settings, Accelerate 3D Graphics should be enabled.
3. Open the Rational CLM 3.0.1 PoT VMware image and revert the image to the snapshot CLM & RRC
PoT. Reverting is important as it puts the VM back in a state that is in sync with the beginning state of
the PoT.
Click NO if you are prompted, with:
Cannot connect virtual device ide0:0. No corresponding device is available on the host.
Would you like an attempt to be made to connect this virtual device every time you power on
the virtual machine?
4. Start the image. If prompted Has this VM been moved or copied? Answer it s been moved to be
assured of no issues with Windows activation.
5. Start the Jazz Team Server from Windows Start Menu > Jazz Team Server > Start Jazz Team Server.
6. After all the server has successfully started (takes a few minutes), open Firefox and login to each web
client app to verify they can connect to the Jazz server (client seems to run better after they ve been
run once) using the bookmark (RM, CCM, QM) as clmadmin/clmadmin.

Instructor guide
This proof of technology is designed to be self-paced. The PoT contains:
1. Setup and Instructor Guide (this document)
2. A introductory presentation, lab overview presentation, and 6 module presentations
3. A hands-on laboratory workbook with 6 exercises
1. Lab 1: Aligning Plans
2. Lab 2: Responding to a change request
3. Lab 3: Planning an iteration
4. Lab 4: Completing a story
5. Lab 5: Testing and fixing a story
6. Lab 6: Stabilizing the sprint
4. VMware image
It is suggested that the introductory presentation and lab overview be given first. It is designed to provide
introductory information, terminology and navigation tips.
Objectives for this PoT
Explore how the IBM Rational Solution from Collaborative Lifecycle Management:
1. Enables teams to collaborate in real time in the context of the work they are doing, especially in
globally diverse environments.
2. Enables projects to be managed more effectively by providing visibility into accurate project health
information drawn directly from actual work.
3. Automates traceability and auditability by managing artifacts and their inter-relationships across the
lifecycle, empowering teams to deliver more value.
Provide a hands on experience using IBM Rational Requirements Composer, IBM Rational Team
Concert"! and IBM Rational Quality Manager to automate the software delivery process.
Schedule and structure
TEC setup and instructor guide Page 8

After the introductory presentation, the subsequent module presentations were intentionally kept small.
They are meant to give the customer a good idea of what is to come and the scenario they will be going
through. Be very careful to remind them the various roles they will play in that lab. Without paying
attention to the role context switches, it would be easy for a customer to get lost in the scenario and get
the impression our solution is complex.
Before each lab, deliver the module slides up to and including the Lab Scenario. After explaining the
scenario, let the students perform the lab. Once complete review the Lab Concepts Learned slide. This
slide is intended to summarize the primary value takeaways we want the customer to leave with from that
lab.

Alternative Delivery Option
The following shortcuts can be used in order to shorten the delivery of this PoT:
1. Skip lab 2.2 Conduct a review completely, and after the end of section 2.1 proceed directly to section
2.3. You would be on the same screen, so the exercise 2.3 will flow seamlessly after 2.1.
2. In lab 4.2.2 Writing unit tests and code , skip the steps _1 to _6, and start directly with step _7.
Change the implementation task status to Done. . If you take that shortcut, then you will have to use
the next shortcuts that bypass the actual test execution against the sample application, and the fixing
of the defect.
3. Speed up through lab 5.1.2 Executing the test by not actually executing the test with the sample
application, but only recording the pass/fail verdict in Rational Quality Manager.
4. In lab 5.2.2 Fixing the defect and delivering the fix. , skip step __4. Fix the code. , and skip step _5
Deliver the fix. from _5.a to _5.e, only do 5.f Change the defect status to Resolve, and then click
Save.
5. Speed up through lab 5.3.2 Executing the test again by not actually executing the test with the
sample application, but only recording the pass/fail verdict in Rational Quality Manager.
