Who Am I?
Usually I don t like to talk about myself, but the purpose of
this section is not to brag or boast but to inspire you, as well
as learn a little about me and who I am.
My name s Aurelius Tjin. I m a full time online entrepreneur,
and I ve been doing this since 2004.
I started online as a freelance website designer and later
decided that it wasn t the path I wanted to head. What I
wanted was a way to earn passive income instead of trading
time for money, so I moved on to creating my own products.
One of my greatest achievements was a massive giveaway I
did back in 2006. It consisted of over 100 product owners
who were willing to giveaway their product in this giveaway.
The results from this were staggering. In 48 hours, 8,200
members signed up and the site ranked 506 on Alexa.com.
After that, there was no turning back.
Since then, I ve created over a hundred products and created
over 200 blogs. I now blog and create information products in
a number of niches for a living.
In the chapters ahead, you ll find out valuable methods on
how I achieved these results. I m not going to teach you
things like setting up a blog, that s not the purpose of this
book. Instead, I m going to teach you foundations to help you
become successful as an online entrepreneur.

#1 The Power Of Less
This is your first step to clearing your mind, so that you can
focus and become more productive.
These days, most people have more than they really need.
When you have too much, things start to get complicated.
When you choose less, you can begin to focus more.
The Less Is More approach is universal, meaning you can use
it in almost any scenario.
Every time I create a new product, I think less features. When
I pack my luggage to go interstate or overseas, I take less.
When I shop, I m not tempted to buy more just because it s on
sale. When I work on a project, I only work on one task at a
time.
Ever since I ve adopted the Less is More approach, things
began to flow much smoother, and more projects were
accomplished much quicker.

#2 What You Focus On Expands
Is it just a coincidence that every time you think and feel bad
thoughts, you end up getting more of that? It's no
coincidence.
When you put all your focus and attention to what you do
want, you will manifest it because your mind will be open.
Which sounds better? Focusing on how to get rid of your debt
or how can I generate more income? Of course the latter,
because you re focusing more on the positive than the
negative. If you focus on the debt, you ll create an outcome of
more debt.
Once you start shifting your focus, your feelings and emotions
will change.

#3 End Multitasking
Want to know the secret to getting things done? No, it's not
by using the GTD (Getting Things Done) system. That s too
complicated.
It's by simply focusing on one thing at a time.
One system.
One product.
One project.
One task.
Just one thing at a time.
Most people like to multi task, thinking that it s a more
productive way of getting things done. In fact, this isn t true.
Sure, multitasking means you re working on many projects at
once, but you re spreading your focus. And that can lead to
worse outcomes for each.

#4 Feeling Stuck?
If everything seems stagnate, you re distracted. Distraction
stops you from growing. In life and business, you want to
move forward. You want to accomplish goals.
When I run into this problem, I shut off everything I don t
need. I open only the things I need to complete the one
project I m working on.
If I m writing a new report, I only have my text editor opened.
Eliminate as many distractions as you can your phone,
instant messaging, unnecessary websites, and windows.
Remember, being busy isn t selfish. It is just valuing your time
and your projects. If you have to, tell people you re not
available to talk.

#5 End the Habit of Being a
Perfectionist
The most important part is to get a project going, and then to
make the changes, tweaks and improvements as you go along.
This quote by Mike Litman says it all You don t have to get
it right, you just have to get it going .
Now, this doesn t mean that you should release garbage and
be happy with it. But it does mean that you should get it out
there so that it s good enough.
Any tweaks and improvements can be done once it s out
there.
And if there are problems, guess what? Your customers will
tell you. This is when you can begin making small changes.

#6 Practice Gratitude
Always be grateful for what you have and where you are at
this present moment.
If you re not grateful for your current state, then there ll
barriers, which will stop you from attracting more abundance
into your life.
What are you grateful for?
I m grateful I have good health.
I m grateful I have a loving partner.
I m grateful for the food I eat every day.
I m grateful there s technology to make life easier.
I m grateful I m sharing this information with you.
You get the idea.
Have a morning ritual when you wake up and focus on being
grateful. Pair that with a pre sleep ritual of focusing on what
you re grateful for today. You can t have bad emotions when
you re grateful. It s a great way to stay positive.

#7 Breath Life Into Your Idea
Not only should you record your ideas, you should also take
action on them.
How many times have you gone to a seminar, wrote down
lots of notes, and then went home without implementing
anything? The last thing you want is for your notes to collect
dust.
The best time to implement an idea is right when your mind's
in the zone. Focus on just implementing that idea until
completion.
So take hold of new ideas, put them to practice, and reap the
benefits.

#8 Overtime Failure
Doing more hours doesn t always equal more. Don t
overwhelm yourself with work just for the sake of it. You'll
end up getting burned out and your mind won't be fresh.
Set rules up, so you end work at a certain time.
I used to stay up late till 3 4AM but I later realized I wasn t
actually doing productive work. Not to mention, I was eating
late too, which was unhealthy. I give myself deadlines now.
If 5PM is when work should end, then don't touch anything
related to work after that.
Go and have some fun.

#9 Project Management 101
Project management shouldn't be about having the latest and
greatest project management and to do list tools. In fact, if
you don t need it, it might not be anything more than trouble.
You don't want your project management software to take
over and control your life.
Here s how to project manage the simplest way:
Take out a piece of paper.
Write down your three top priorities for today, and do them.
That's how you get things done.
14

#10 Blind Goals
Don t set a goal too much ahead of time. A lot of people make
2, 5, even 10 year goals.
Setting a goal that s too far in advance puts blinders in your
path.
The problem with this is you don't know what changes are
going to happen down the road.
If you set a goal too far ahead of time, you ll blind yourself to
other opportunities you might stumble upon.
It s a fixed way of thinking, and it s poisonous.
Go where the stream takes you, and everything will flow
naturally.

#11 Stretch Your Comfort Zones
A key way to grow in any part of your life is to stretch your
comfort zones.
Robert Kiyosaki likes to put it this way:
There are people who are not wealthy because they want to be
comfortable.
If you want big changes to happen, take risks in what you
believe in.
Do something you ve never done before.
Wake up an hour earlier tomorrow to have an extra hour to
do what you want.
Make those calls to your clients.
Over deliver.
The point is that being comfortable won t let you stretch to
your fullest potential. You ll never find out what pleasant
surprises exist beyond your daily routine.

#12 Anyone Can Be In Business
Today anyone can be in business. In the past, you would need
to own or rent a brick and mortar business. Today, anyone
can be one.
An Internet business is one of the best businesses you can be
in because there s not much risk involved, and, compared to
brick and mortar businesses, the costs are tiny.
The advantage of having an Internet business is that you re
not restricted to just working from home. You can be
anywhere in the world while still making money, as long as
you have your laptop and an Internet connection.
I ve setup my laptop to have everything I need to run my
business, and I don t have to work from home.
All my files are cloud synced, which is a geeky tech word for
storing your files on a remote server which you can access
anywhere, any time.
You, too, can do this. You can own and operate your business
entirely from a laptop.

#13 Got An Idea? Blog About It
Who ever you are, whatever industry you re in, you need a
blog.
A blog isn t just for ranting. I use my blog to share tips, videos
and reports. Ever since I put up a blog, I ve gained more loyal
readers and it s helped build my credibility, ten fold.
A blog is powerful because once you ve got valuable content
in place, you can monetize it however you wish. On my blog, I
feature links to my products and also products I m affiliated
to.
I found that people do look and read but, often don t
comment. The main idea is to get into the flow of sharing.
The best way to start is to install Wordpress the most
popular blogging platform.
Here s what my blog looks like: www.AureliusTjin.com

#14 Your Number One Asset In Your
Business
Building your list should be your number one priority. Your
list is an asset.
It doesn t matter what business you re in offline or online. If
you own a pizza restaurant, why not get your customers
names and email address, so you can follow up on them with
special offers? That will surely bring in more repeat
customers. Groupons are hot today, so you could use a similar
approach with your offers.
The bigger and more responsive your list grows, the more
attention you ll get in your market. That s a fact.
If I lost everything in my business, the first thing I would do is
build a list.
The first step is to get an autoresponder. There are many out
there, but I recommend AWeber to build your list.
Once you ve started building your list, protect it! Don t over
sell and send out garbage. I refuse to promote other peoples
product if I don t truly believe in it.
Another important point is to keep your newsletters
consistent. If you re going to send out once a week, keep it at
about that rate. If you suddenly stop for a whole month and
then later send your newsletter, you re most likely going to
get a lower respons.

#15 Teach A Man To Fish
I once heard a variation of the Give a man a fish and you feed
him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a
lifetime .
The variation is Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and you can sell him fishing equipment.
The law of reciprocity applies when you share.

#16 The Money s In The Relationships
Before you ever try to sell anything to anyone, build a
relationship first. People will naturally follow those whom
they know, like and trust.
Here are a few suggestions:
" Start a Facebook Fan Page and post relevant and helpful
information on your subject. It doesn t have to be long,
since it s a quick Facebook status update. Here s what my
Facebook Page looks like Click here.
" Connect on Twitter. Here s my Twitter page.
" E mail your subscribers.
" Establish a connection when meeting people at
conferences.
What to share:
" Sites you find useful.
" Tools you find useful.
" News and updates in your industry.
" Inspirational quotes.
" Your knowledge.

#17 W.I.I.F.M.?
Whenever you create a product or make some sort of
proposal, place yourself in the other person's shoes and ask&
What s in it for me?
Sell the benefits, not the features.
Here are some examples:
" With this software, you ll save time.
" Using these tips, you ll be a more confident speaker.
" With this car, you ll save on gas.
" Using this supplement, you ll be able to gain bigger
muscles.
" With this design, you ll attract lots of customers.
" With this new technology, you ll be able to play your
games smoothly without lag.
" After reading this book, you ll be able to get more done
in less time.
People buy based on emotion and justify with logic.

#18 You Can t Satisfy Everyone
Don t try to be everything to everyone. You can t satisfy
everyone, but you can satisfy a good number of loyal
customers. Focus on those customers.
Focus on your core values. Don t add more features just
because a couple of people want it. It s only going to over
complicate your product or service.
Seth Godin's post says it all.

#19 Stop Working IN Your Business
Are you a one man band? Are you trying to do everything
yourself? Stop it! Stop working IN your business instead work
ON your business.
The book 'The E Myth Revisited' finds that most
entrepreneurs are technicians in their business and suffer
from entrepreneurial seizure a stage where an
entrepreneur goes through the feeling of exhilaration,
exhaustion, and despair.
As an entrepreneur, you should be spending most of your
time on business growth areas such as strategic objectives as
well as management and marketing.
You don t want to be the one who answers customer support
issues or designing websites.
Every time I m working on a task, I ask myself, Can this be
delegated? 9/10 times you ll find that it can be delegated.
24
JUST THE MEAT by Aurelius Tjin
_____________________________________________________________________
#20 Systemize and Streamline
You can make your business more efficient by systemizing
every part of your business from handling emails to
researching a market.
Document the steps on how to handle tasks so that you can
easily delegate it.
If you look at some of the top franchises in the world like
Subway and McDonald's, you ll see why they're so successful.
They have systemized and documented exactly how the
business is run, so that anyone who wants to open up their
own Subway or McDonald's can easily replicate it.
Part of the streamlining process is to complete your tasks in
batches. Do emails all at once. Make phone calls at the same
time. Update your WordPress blogs all at once. You get the
point.
Every time I have a new task I want to delegate to my
outsourced workers, I record a screen video and then place it
in my staff center . Basically, I ve setup a central website
where my staff can log in to view task tutorials. It s ordered
by category Traffic Generation, Maintenance, Customer
Support, Product Creation and a few more. This way, if
something ever happens to one of my staff, I can easily get
some one else to replace him/her. They would simply follow
the tutorials.

#21 From 1,000 Unread Emails to Zero
Are you suffering from email overload? It s no surprise. Most
people are spending their time on email.
Reduce your inbox clutter by archiving, setting up rules,
setting up filters, and unsubscribing unnecessary newsletters.
Set aside a whole day to do this, and you'll be surprised how
clean your inbox will be by the end of the day.
Go to Google and search for "inbox zero". You ll find lots of
tutorials on how you can significantly reduce your inbox
clutter.
I recommend using Gmail as they handle spam more
effectively than other email services.
I ve set up hundreds of filters and labels to properly organize
what needs more attention and what doesn t.
I have labels for sales, expenses, joint venture partners,
newsletter responses, personal and more.

#22 A Customer List
Not only should you build a list of prospects, but you should
also build a list of customers.
You should do this not only to offer more products/services,
but to follow up and make sure your customers are satisfied
with their purchase.
It s also a known fact that it s a lot easier selling to customers
than it is to sell to prospects because they have proven that
they re willing to buy.
The crucial part is to build a list, regardless of what business
you re in.

#23 The Recipe to Success
Chefs show how they do it on camera and provide their
recipes (secrets).
Even with this information, the chef needn t worry that
viewers will steal his/her job, but she/he does gain a lot by
having an audience. Attention wins in today s world.
The idea here is to be helpful and share.
Show people how you do it. Blog about it. Speak about it.
Record a video. Write a book.
You'll build your brand and sell more of your products.

#24 The 80/20 Rule
You can apply Parkinson s Law and Pareto s 80/20 principle
to everything you do.
The 80/20 rules says that 80% of the results are caused by
20% of the inputs.
The value of the Pareto Principle for an entrepreneur is that it
reminds you to focus on the 20 percent that matters. Only 20
percent of the things you do today matter. Those 20 percent
produce 80 percent of your results. Identify and focus on
those things.
On the other hand, Parkinson s Law dictates that work
expands to fill the time available for its completion. In
Layman s terms it simply means, if I give you a week to
complete a task, you will fill the time so that the task is
completed in a week. However, if I only give you a day to
complete the task, you will complete it by the end of the day.
Parkinson s Law is not only a good productivity approach you
should apply to yourself, but also your staff or outsourcers.
If I give my assistant a day to complete a task, she normally
prioritizes and makes sure that the task is completed by then.

#25 There's a Product Within a Product
There s a product within a product, and you may not know it.
Using one product you ve already created, you can easily
create another product, which expands upon one of the ideas
from your main product.
You can even repurpose your existing content. If you re
currently selling an ebook, it can be expanded to a video
course. That video course can then be expanded into a
coaching program.
A photographer I know does photography for a living. Her
clients were then interested in albums and frames to present
their photos. A large percentage of her profit now is
generated from photo albums and frames.
So don't get fussy about what other products you could offer
at the start. It'll naturally progress.

#26 Connect
Connect with people in your industry. Join or start your own
mastermind group. Your mastermind group will help you
move forward.
You ll leverage other people s strengths, and that will
accelerate your success by miles.
You ll surround yourself with like minded people who ll
inspire you and keep you accountable.
Joint venture partners will help you grow your business
dramatically, as mine has. I have a small group of JV partners,
but we always keep each other accountable, and it s great to
just have like minded people surrounding you.
Attend seminars and meetings. It s a great way to meet like
minded people; people who have a genuine interest in what
you re doing.
The best way to start is to search for local groups and meet
ups at www.meetup.com.
You can also join forums related to your industry.

#27 Bigger Markets = Bigger Profits
Anyone can get a piece of the pie. I see a lot of people in tiny,
tiny niches that simply aren t profitable, complaining about
why they're not getting results.
I say go for the big markets and carve out a part of it for
yourself.
To be more specific, target mass markets, such as:
" Business opportunities and Finance home business,
Internet marketing, forex, stocks, etc.
" Weight loss and Health & Fitness
" Self improvement
" cures example: how to get rid of back pain.
" Relationships and Dating

#28 Video Killed The Radio Star
When ever possible, use videos in your marketing. It
increases the perceived value of your products.
Surveys have shown that the majority of people prefer
watching videos as a learning aid, rather than reading a PDF
document or listening to an audio file.
There are two main types of videos you can produce:
" Screen tutorials where you record your computer
screen.
" From your video camera
Even though videos increase perceived value and are more
favored, you should still compliment your videos with actual
transcripts or just a PDF document your customers can
follow.
Whatever your niche is, videos easily and instantly give your
product a higher perceived value.
We live in a very interactive world today. Take advantage of
what the Internet has to offer.

#29 Drop it All in Dropbox
Has it ever happened to you? You re away from your
computer and had a file stored which you need to retrieve.
It s not possible unless you return to your computer or if you
made a copy on your USB drive.
Technology today allows you to sync everything on a cloud
server.
Sync all your files using Dropbox. It s free and it ll make life
easier. Dropbox is has got to be one of my top tools I use to
run my online business.
Not only is Dropbox a great tool for storing files, it s also great
for backing up your files. A year ago I lost 6 months of work
because my backup drive failed. Lesson learned. I now
backup my files onto Dropbox and still backup to my external
drive, just in case.
Make sure you protect and backup your files!

#30 Delegate and Outsource
Find something that works and then outsource it. If it gives
you results, systemize it and delegate as much of it as
possible.
If it's something that's taking up too much of your time, then
you shouldn't hesitate to delegate it.
Outsourcing is cheaper than you think. People are willing to
do anything for a low cost if you look around. Check
Fiverr.com.
I ve also had success finding full time and part time virtual
assistance at www.onlinejobs.ph and www.bestjobs.ph who
are willing to work for $200 $300 a month, 40 hours a week.
Have a central location (website), where you store your
documents, videos and how to documents to train people
you outsource. This way, if you lose a worker, you can easily
recruit another and direct them straight to the training
center. It ll save hours of your time.
Use a simple collaboration tool called Basecamp. It will save
you the hassle and time. I use this for projects and to delegate
tasks to people I contract for work.
I use TimeDoctor to track my assistant s tasks and hours
completed. It tells you what tasks they had completed, how
many hours they had spent and which sites they had
browsed.

#31 Ready Made
Today, we live in a very fast paced world and also distracting.
We need to filter out all the garbage so that we can get the
best.
Let s admit it, we are lazy and like to be spoon fed some
times. If you can provide a ready made product or service,
you ll sell lots of it.
Unless they re bored, most people aren t willing to spend the
time to fiddle around and figure out how to get something to
work.
This is an important fact and something you should exploit
when you create products or render services.
I ve tapped into a niche where other vendors can acquire
private label rights to ready made information products. All
the material s created for them. The ebook and sales
materials have all been created so that they don t need to do
it. This saves them time and money in the end, and they love
it.
What ever you business may be, ask yourself:
How can I offer a ready made solution?

#32 Viral Marketing 101
Most people are over looking simple traffic strategies and go
straight to SEO, PPC and other forms of traffic methods. One
powerful technique that should have more focus on is viral
marketing.
Viral marketing is one of the best marketing techniques you
can get because it doesn t cost anything.
Here s some ways to get people sharing your content:
" Use share buttons on your blog so readers can share
your blog posts.
" Tell your subscribers to feel free to share your
newsletter as long as they leave the content intact.
" Reward those who pass on the message.
" Offer reprint rights to your reports.
" Use controversy to create a buzz .
" Participate in giveaways. Everybody loves free stuff.
" Create cool videos about your business.

#33 Stop Memorizing Passwords
You'd be surprised that a majority of people still try to
memorize their logins and passwords, rather than simply
recording them somewhere.
Give your mind a break and let LastPass remember it all. It's
free and it's a no brainer.
I signed up to their Premium package because it offers the
iPhone App so I can access my logins anywhere I go.

#35 Reflect Back On What s Important
In times when I m stressed and under pressure, I like to get
away for a moment, take deep breaths and reflect back on
what s important in life. It helps clear the mind so you get
back to work with better focus.
It could be your family, your partner, your life goals, your
health, your fitness and so on.
Life isn t always about work. Balance your work and life
areas. You want to make sure you stay sane.
Do the things you enjoy, spend time with the family or
whatever it is you enjoy.
For me, the best time for reflection is when I m having a bath.
I get some of the best ideas in the shower to be honest. It s
like meditating.

#36 Keep Doing What Works
What ever you find that works, you should keep doing it over
and over and over and over and over again until it doesn t
work anymore.
That s one of the best advice a mentor told me when I first
started out business.
Most people make the mistake of trying something out once
and then moving on to something else.

#37 The Best Way To Unwind
Renew, unwind and relax your mind and body by exercising
It s like the oil and lube job for your car. You don t have to do
it, but if you do, your car will definitely run better.
The benefits of exercising kicks in immediately after your
first workout.
You ll feel more energized, sleep easier, notice improvements
in your mood, and will gain overall physical and mental focus.
I enjoy going to the gym 3 4 times a week. It s where I release
tension and clear my mind.

#38 Keep Learning
In life, you either grow or you die, just like a plant.
Statistics have shown that 42% of college graduates stop
reading books. That s a large number of people who stop
learning!
Make it a habit to keep learning by reading books, blogs,
maybe take up a new hobby or even travel.
Great people never stop learning. Keep learning.

#39 Do Something Each Day
Do something each day to move your business and life
forward, even if it s just a small bit. You ll end up with
massive improvement in a short time and you ll build
momentum.
The Butterfly Effect dictates that a small change at one place
can have a large effect elsewhere.
Do something each day, regardless of how minor it may be. It
might be updating your blog or calling a potential client. Each
step can only move you forward. Even if you fail, you ll then
know what doesn t work.
What s that one thing you can do right now that ll make a
difference to the future?
A meeting with a friend? A new report? A call to a client? A
gym session? A visit to your accountant? What ever it may be,
the important point is to do something.

#40 There s Never a Right Time
People procrastinate and their excuse is normally It s not the
right time. Or I ve been busy .
Rome wasn t built in a day, and the pyramids were built stone
by stone, layer upon layer.
Start somewhere.
Take the first step.
Get something out there for people to see.
There ll never be the right time .
Take massive action!
