Ghostly Sickness
It was in late autumn but that November afternoon was amazingly warm and sunny. If it hadn't been for the falling yellow and red leaves, you could have though it was the middle of the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Elvin with their teenage daughter got into their old car and went house - hunting, as they had wanted to buy a new house for a few months. 14-year old Sara and her parents were going to see a ramshackle, empty old house out in the sticks. It was in need of repair, so the price was low and attractive.
The estate agent gave them the keys and said he would prefer it if they viewed the place without him. The Elvins did not think anything of it at the time. Their two huskies came with them, but, when they opened the front door, the dogs refused to go in and started whimpering and growling. That spooked them a bit, but they stayed together and left the front door open.
Although it was sunny outside, the temperature in the house was well below freezing. The Elvins were in the kitchen when the dogs suddenly ran in and started barking. The next thing they heard was the front door shutting loud. The huskies were gone mad and they started to make a horrible mess everywhere. Mrs. Elvin and Sara managed to drag them outside and Mr. Elvin was just behind them, but when he got to the hall he started to retch.
He went totally white, as if he was going to vomit, but Mrs. Elvin dragged him out, piled into the car and they drove away as fast as they could. The estate agent noticed Mr. Elvin's white face before they left and said only: “You too?” Apparently, he wasn't the first person to be violently sick after viewing the house. As someone told them later, the first owner of this house was poisoned by his wife in the early 1900s and the place has been haunted ever since…
