Ireland is a country where visitors are always welcome. Irish fields are famously green and the wild coastline, with its deep inlets and bays, is one of the most beautiful in Europe. Ireland has got everything; beautiful lakes, mountains, islands, rolling hills and plenty of rain! To the north, in Donegal, there are some of the most beautiful beaches you have ever seen. Ireland has also got the longest river in the British Isles, the Shannon.

Ireland has some fantastic cities, too. There you will find modern shops, cafés, theatres and excellent food. Cork, which is on the south coast of Ireland, is a lively young people's city. Many famous artists and writers have lived there too, including the artist, Frank O'Connor and the poet, Seamus Murphy. Dublin, which is the capital of Ireland, is the home of some of Ireland's most famous tourist attractions, Dublin Castle and Trinity College.

Make sure you hear plenty of music while you're in Ireland. There's traditional Irish music, of course, but remember that Van Morrison, The Pogues, U2, Sinéad O'Connor, and the boy band, Westlife, are all Irish too. Before you leave, don't forget to go to a Gaelic - or Irish - football match, which is a mixture of football and rugby. You should also see a game of hurling, a 15-a-side game, played with wooden sticks. It's the oldest team game in Ireland!
