We eat all sorts of food. There are three main food types:
Carbohydrates
Fats
proteins
There are another four types of products which we get with food:
Minerals
Vitamins
Roughage
Water
Proteins | Building and repairing cells | Beans, fish and dairy products |

Fat | Energy and for cells membranes | Dairy products, vegetable and animal oils |
Roughage | Add bulk to food to help digestion | Fruit, cereals, vegetables, beans |
Water | fills cells up and dissolves chemicals | Any beverage or soft drink, water, in food etc. |
Carbohydrate | Used for energy | Bread, sweets, vegetables, pasta, rice, fruits, etc. |
Minerals | Calcium- healthy bones, iron for blood | In a variety of foods such as meat, dairy, fruits,etc. |
Vitamins | Used to make enzymes in small amounts | Small amounts found in fresh fruit, vegetables, cereal, etc. |
