They have sometimes difficulty in telling fact from fiction
They are happy playing and working done but in the company of others
They are very reluctant to share
They are very self confident
They cannot see things of somebody’s point of view
They seldom admit that they don’t know something
Children may not ask questions even if they don’t understand
They are not able to decide of themselves what they want to learn
They love to play and learn best while enjoying themselves
They take themselves very seriously and like to think that what they’re doing is “red” work
They’re enthusiastic and positive about learning , it’s very important to praise them to keep them their enthusiastic
YOUNG LERNERS (8-10y.o)
Basic concepts are formed
Children have decide views of the world
They already can tell the difference between fact and fiction
They ask questions all the time
Pupils rely on (polegać na) verbal and non-verbal communication to convey (przekazać) and understand meanings
Children are able to make some decisions about their own learning
They have definite views about what they like and dislike
They have a developes sense of fairness (poczucie sprawiedliwości) about what happens in the classroom.
They’re able to work with others and learn from others
They begin to understand obstracts
They understand symbols
They’re able to generalize and systematise
What are children like?
Children’s concentration is very short
Children love talking and listening to their own voices
Children like moving, playing and pretending to be someone else
Children love experimenting
Children are curious and active, they eagerly explore their environment and interact with people to construct their understanding of the world they live in
Children’s muscules are very flexible
Children’s are great mimics and imitators
Children are incapable (nie są w stanie) of understanding a complex language system
Children enjoy drawing, cutting and colouring
Children learn about the world around them and how things work all the time
CLASSROOM ATMOSPHERE:
Abilities:
Learn to sing or even play a musical instrument
Lern to a mime, act, draw simple drawings
Theatre practices
Learn to organize your worksheets
Learn how to use internet as a source of materials and ideas
Attitiude:
Appear to like equally (they have a very keen sense of fairness)
Feel secure of what you’re doing (plan, read, talk to other)
RESPECT YOUR PUPILS!
Accept what the pupils are saying also mistakes! Constain corrections does not help creating a friendly atmosphere (depends on the type of task)
SENSE OF SECURITY!
Pupils need to know what you’re doing and that you’re in charge (rządzisz)
ESTABLISH ROUTINES:
Grettings, days of the week, a day for reading, a story, birthdays, weather chart.
Make children responsible for doing practical jobs (clean the board)
Avoid organized competition
Avoid giving physical awards
PHYSICAL SURROUNDINGS:
Have posters, calendars, postcards, pupil’s drawings, plants
Interesting objects connected with their life
An English corner
Arrange the desk
GRUPPING CHILDREN: (what to remember about)
Prepare children carefully, patiently
Organise them in ways apriopriate to the goal of the activity (odpowiedni do celu)
Structure the activity carefully so they’re clear procedures and outcomes (jasno ułożone, jasne wyniki)
Show them how to do the activity:
Involve them in your demonstration (zaangażuj)
Be possible about their efforts
