Check list for Vessels prior to entering / operating within High Risk Area, excluding Gulf of Aden

At this stage requirement in Chapter 2 –Appendix 1 is implemented

3.2.1 - Requirement to be implemented in due time prior to Arrival High Risk Area

Crew Notified; Work outside the accommodation during the passage of the High Risk Area is

restricted upon Masters decision.

5 Tools to be removed from the deck area especially the equipment for gas and acetylene bottles, removal of the gas and acetylene bottles if possible to a area considered as a safe area
6 Search light and deck light should be ready for immediate use.
7 Make sure radar is turned for optimal detection of small boats.
8 Machinery ready for maneuvering.
9 Check that the prepared emergency e-mails for UKMTO / Company is prepared.
10 Check that the prepared emergency details and prepare reporting format sheet is in the vicinity of VHF. Brief bridge personnel in details.

Keeping the Company updated with ETA / ETD to the boarder of the MSCHOA monitoring for

vessel registration of movement to MSCHOA, as described in Chapter 7.

12 If the vessel has to pass Gulf of Aden during the voyage requirements for position reporting shall followed according to Chapter 8 / 8.5, if applicable

3.2.2 - Entering High Risk Area

If the vessel has to pass Gulf of Aden during the voyage requirements for position reporting shall be followed according to Chapter 8 / 8.5

2 Report to the Company when entering the defined High Risk Area.

4 Additional assigned personnel for radar watch if possible.
5 Search light and deck light ready for immediate use.
6 Fire pumps should be set running / or standby and hoses pressurized with water spray discharged overboard in high risk quarters during the passage of the High Risk Area.
7 VHF set on CH.16/08.
8 AIS switch off , (if off, it shall be switch on in the event of a potential attack or attack)

3.2.3 - Within High Risk Area
