Clan - Scottish family, each clan has a different pattern on kilt.
Scotland has its OWN church.
Whisky - famous alcohol.
Kilt - national costume, made of tartan. It became popular in 19th century.
Bagpipes (dudy) - Scottish national instrument.
1979 - 40% voted for independent
1997 - 80% voted for independent
1999 - Scottish Parliament was founded (they do not decide about everything). Scottish people
choose their members for Scottish Parliament, and additionally they choose their representatives for parliament in London.
REGIONS
Northern Highlands (more than half) - not much people, not much industry, Scottish Gaelic still exist. Presbyterian Church (on Sunday you couldn't travel by ferry time ago).
Central Lowlands - most densely populated, all big cities situated here
Southern Uplands - hills (not high mountains). Till borderline (granica) - line of Hadrian's Wall. This region doesn't stand alone (wyróżniać się), it is mix of everything

Robert Burns - national poet of Scotland
Walter Scott - national writer, Rob Roy, Ivanhoe, Waverly
Steven Louis Stevenson - writer, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Treasure Island
Arthur's Seat - extinct volcano (wygasły)
Highland Games - contest of traditional games and sport games
Ceilidh /silid/ - evening of dance and traditional music
