The Space Environment Effects Branch (SEEB) was begun in the earty 1970's to investigate a senes of GEO spacecraft anomalies The group established a link between these anomalies and electrical charge/discharge phenomena occurring between the spacecraft and the GEO plasma It went on to deveiop and validate models and guidelmes for GEO spacecraft design.
In the early 1980's, the SEEB turned its attention to the LEO emrironment, and continued to develop and va!idate models and design guidelines for spacecraft operating in LEO.
