CHRISTMAS! inside
1. Our cards were 30 mm $quare, so tor each one we had to cut a piece ot carc which measured
•160 mmx80 mm. and toia >: u. na It.
2. Start with our star oi Christmas box it you like. o; think up your own idea. By Kie time you've madę one or twe. you’ll have hac another idea ot your own. no doubt!
3. You’ll see that the idea is a little different tor each one.
The Christmas Box card has exactly the same picture underneath it so that when you remove the tree decoration the same piduie remains. The star is not quite iike that - lots of tiny stars in o nighi sky are there when the big one is taken away
4. Our decorations were cur out ot thick card. buf yours could oe mace of tne kino ai corrugated card which oardboard boxes are madę of. There is a kina of foam-padded board arouna sometimes which is quite sus, to cut with a craft knite. although you should aiways get an adult to do any craft-knite work for you. It isn’t cheating — it's just using the grown-up as an extra hand! And it’s much safer than domg M yourself. Polystyrene trays used to packcge food in the supermarket are good tco. and euf well using scissors
5. Draw the aesign so that i: fills most of the area of your 80 mm square and cut it ou: Paint it, or cover it with si!ver foil or gift wrap.
7. Make a smali noie in the top ot the decoration and rhread something through rui nangmg it up. Push this through a smali hole in tne front of the card and secure with tape at the back.
8. Give yourserf a nade name We put 'This is a Christmas Tree Decoration Card by Bradley Pubhcations' in a box on the bock ot ours. oecause Bradiey is the surname of the person who wrote this book and of hei chilaren w<ho helped her. The other one says A Tree-Dec Card by Bob and Jo', not because we know anyone with those names but because they just nappened to be the first names we thought of. You could put your own there instead. The trade-name this time is ‘Tree-Dec Card' insteaa of ‘Bradley Publications' It doesn't mean anything, but i: is an extra bit of fun.
9. Now then, have you had any bright ideas yef> How about a Christmas pudding? Or a snowman? (MadÄ™ of white polystyrene you wouldn't have much paintiny to do). Try to have a light background agamst a dark decoration. and vice-versa
