del Morro. The rock is dark in coiour, steep-to and modcrately prominent.
Bajo de Gando lies S cables ESE of Roque de Gando and is composed of two pinnaclc rocks; thc outer with a depth of 6 4 m (21 ft) over it, and the inner almost awash. It is dangerous as the sea does not aiways break on it and two hours after high water the reef has the appearance of a tide-rip. Bajo de Gando is steep-to but should be given a wide berth. The whole of La Isleta (3.49) open E of Ciudad de ias Palmas (3.53), the latter bearing about 334°, leads about j mile E of Bajo de Gando, which is covered by the red sector of Punta Arinaga (3.67), ■bearing between 172° and 212°.
Bahia de Gando lies between Punta de Gando and Punta Arinaga (3.67), 4 miles S.
Puerto de Gando (27° 56' N, 15° 22' W) situated at the N end of Bahfa de Gando, is well sheltered from all winds except those from E, through S, to SSW. The swell outside caused by NE winds is scarcely felt at the anchorage, sec below. The villagc of Gando, standing at the head of Puerto de Gando, is a smali group of houses. Some mooring buoys lie S of the village.
Castillo de Gando, standing SW of thc vitlagc, is prominent, as is the control tower of Gando International airport situated W of the village.
The best landing place is on the sandy beach SW of the vitlagc.
Anchorage can be obtaincd about 2 cables off the NE shore of Bahia de Gando in a depth cf about 16 m (9 fm) where the holding ground, sand and mud, is good, but within 1 cable of the shore the bottom is rocky and on the W side is sand. Strong squa!ls sometimes blow off the land into the anchorage.
Punta Arinaga Light is exhibited from a white round tower, 10 m (33 ft) in hcight, attached to a dwelling, standing on the point.

Punta Tenefć (27° 48' N, 15° 25' W), fringed by a rocky shoal, lies at the mouth of Barranco de Tirajana.
A steep-to shoal, with a depth of 7 6 m (25 ft) over it, lies about 5 cables S of Punta Tenefć; S and SW of this shoal are patches of 18 m (10 fm) and 13 m (7 fm) respectively.
Anchorage can be obtained in the open roadstead of Salinas, 1 mile E of Punta Tenefć, sheltered from N winds. This anchorage is frequented by fishing vessels from the African coast.
Puerto de Tenefć, which has a smali breakwater at which landing can be eflectcd, is 8ituated S of the point.
Punta Morro Besudo, 6 miles WSW of Punta Tenefć, attains an elevation of 70 m (230 ft).
Punta de Maspalomas (27° 44' N, 15° 34' W), the S point of Isla de Gran Canaria, is covered with heaps of whitish sand and silting is liable in its vicinity.
Punta Morro de Colchas lies 1) miles W of Punta de Maspalomas and the coast between is Iow.
Barranco de ias Hata and Barranco de Fataga, with a common mouth, flow into the sea close E of Punta Morro de Colchas. Therc are many large hotels and apartment blocks in the vicinity.
Maspalomas Light is exhibited from a grey tower, 56 m (184 ft) in height, with a white lantern and attached to a dwelling, standing on Punta Morro de Colchas.

Punta Arinaga (27° 53' N, 15° 23' W) is backed by Monte Arinaga whose sumrnit, 6 cables NW of the point, is marked by eight red occulting obstruction lights.
Roque de Arinaga, 7 m (23 ft) high, lies at thc outer end of a reef extending SE from the point and the channel between Roque de Arinaga and the coast is only suitable for smali boats.

Bahia de Arinaga lies between Punta Arinaga and Punta Tenefć, 4 miles SSW, and is elear of dangers.
Anchoring and trawlmg are prohibited in an area, indicated on the charts, which extends 8 miles S and SE from Punta Arinaga due to submarine cables.

(28° 09' N, 15° 32'W) lies 1} miles WNW of Punta Sombrero (3.52). A rocky ledge, with a least depth of 37 m (12 ft) over it, extends 3 cables NE from Punta del Camello.
