Sometimes I find that it's Friday and I have only five dollars to last until the next Friday. The five dollars must last the entire week. This happens when it‘s the end of the month usually. And my paycheck will be coming on the last Friday of the month. There are ways to get around this. But it's not a very pleasant experience. Makes you realize what it‘s like to watch every single cent. I never drive on the parkway or any toll road or toll bridge. I nurse the gas in the car. I can usually take a bike to the shopping mail. I save the car for getting back and forth from work. Food is necessary. I use
what I have. Things like pancake flour, cereals, potatoes and onions stored in the drawer. Pancakes can be filling and are madę with only flour, egg, and milk. Use any leftovers in the refrigerator. Whatever is on hand. Sometimes bills are overdue. I'll mail the checks as late as possible. I postdate the checks. And hope that they don't arrive too fast. Bounced the fuel oil check last winter. I ignore the paperboy at the door. 1’m always searching for change in my pockets and under the car seat and the couch cushions in living room. Pennies can add up and help.
What do I do when I have only five I have to avoid buying food, gas; I
dollars to last for a week? have to put off paying bills; I keep looking for extra money.
When does this happen?
Why does it happen?
Whom do I avoid?
The last week of the month before I receive my monthly paycheck. Sometimes an unexpected bill will come up during the month or my check will be delayed.
Anybody collecting money, like the paperboy, the Avon lady, the volun-teer fire fighters, the Girl Scout cookie sellers.
This is how I make five dollars last for a week.
