Changes in the character and spatial distribution of vegetation communities that encompassed about 36 percent of the study area reflected changes in agricultural land-use practices in the valley. This mainly concemed meadows communities. Another important processes observed in the valley were changes in aquatic habitats leading to aggradation and overgrowing of the river-bed and water reservoirs. There were also noticed changes in vegetation communities that indicate lowering of ground-water level or horizontal water movement, resulted in a significant reduction of moist meadows and bog forests area. There was observed a generał increase in vegetation anthropisation. This was caused by land-use changes and by modifica-tions in vegetation communities which did not change their generał character (land-use forms remained the same) but they led to changes in their structure and biodi-versity. First of all, these were degeneration processes in forests and the evolution of meadows to other grasslands types used morę intensively.
