Not a "real" volume, but a hypothetical vo!ume of body fluid that would be required to dissolve the total amount of drug at the same concentration as thatfound in the blood or plasma. It is a proportionality constant relating the amount of drug in the body to the measured concentration in biological fluid (blood, plasma, plasma water).
