Measurement becomes less precise v/ith a smali scalÄ™, a cul of the chisel can alter the face disas-trously; edges become perilously thin.
Also in this example, the hair is in the way. This means that the profile can only partially be bandsawn and the front view is only theoutline of the hair. This makes accurate bandsawing even morÄ™ imperative than usual because the bandsawn outline must be used as the reference point for measuring to locate the face.
The błock of wood must be planed perfectly square to avoid inaccuracy and the drawing traced on very carefully, using a square around the błock to ensure that various points on the two profiles are dead level, as in Fig. 4.
When ihe błock has been bandsawn from both sides, the first move is to draw in the centre linę 'A' iocating it by measur ing from either side. Fig. 6.
