Irregular Comparative and Superlative Adjeetives

Some adjectives have irregular comparative forms. Remember that irregular forms are usually the most common, both in English and Spanish.

Comparative    Superlative

Other Comparisons

Keep in mind the following details regarding comparisons in Spanish. Notę that the English equivalent may not be a literał translation.

•    In comparisons that involve numerals, use de (not que).

Saben que tienen mas de cuarenta    They know they hcwe morethan forty days.

•    If the comparison is based on an adjective from a different clause, de lo que is used instead of que to tran siatę than.

Es to es menos dificil de lo que    This is less difficult than we thought.

pensabamos.

The comparison in de lo que is based on the adjective dificil.
