- Take off paper and apply bulwarks onto hull. Sand the whole using thin sand paper.
15) Place strlngers 40 and bulwark stays 41 on ąuarterdeck and poopdeck, follow same lnstructions as for pleces 18-19 of Fig.9. Apply capplngs 42-43, as well. These parts should be bent vety carefully (Fig.22-25).
16) Place upper frame 44 (mm. 1x2) and lower frame 45 (mm. 1x1) on wali between ąuarterdeck and poopdeck (Fig. 22).
17) Plank forecastle with strlps 47 (mm. 1x4). Drill hole for mast and apply the whole on stem, flush with frames.
18) Now prepare bulwaTks and forecastle walls as follows:
- Copy and cni the three drawings on Table 2.
- Cover paper with adhesive tape and apply strlps 48.
- Place both bulwarks and the wali, so as to make a trlangłe with a smali openlng on one slde,
- Apply strlngers 49, bulwark stays 50 and capplng 51.
19) Prepare and place part 52 on bulwark stays. For a correct posltlonlng refer to figur es on Table 1.
20) Place metal heełs 53 and 54 (2 smali parts + 1 large part) flush with mast holes on decks. Apply frames 56 on doors and steps 57 (mm. 2x2) on forecastle wali. Mount and positton stalrs 58 as shown ln ftgures on Table 1. Prepare hatchway with pleces 59 (basement), 60 (rabbet frames), 61 and 62 (coverlngs). Mount this part on deck as shown ln flgures on Table 1. Mount bitts 63 with belaying pin rack 64 (Fig. 22), posllion this part on deck flush with maln mast. Prepare ąuarterdeck rall with pleces 63 and 65, then posltłon it on deck. Prepare capstan 66 and glue it onto the deck. Insert ropę 67 through hawses. Let ropę run outwards (about cm. 20). Run ropę towards doors of forecastle wali, then wind lt around capstan and run the end to holes on deck. Apply decoratlons 68. Glue pump 69 onto deck.
21) Color llfeboat 71 ln natural wood. Apply one strip 70 (mm. 3x5) on maln deck near to closed hatchway. Posltłon and sllng llfeboat as shown ln figurę.
22) Glue shutters 75 to the opened hatchway. Insert stalrs 58 and flx lnto place with vinyllc glue. Cover rudder 76 with strlps 76/A, then apply tlller 78. Mount rudder hinge pins 77 on rudder, using smali nails. Place rudder on sternpost and check exact posltlonlng of gudgeons 77/A. Prepare gudgeons and hinge płns. Glue rudder on sternpost, fix gudgeons and bend endlngs towards stern.
23) Now apply wales and hull fenders. Flgures 28-29-30-31-32-33 show all stages. It ls advlsable to slarl by positloning wales and strlps 83, 84, 85, 86, 87 and 88. Now apply fenders supports 89 (mm.2x2) then fenders 90. Notę that fenders 90 are madę up by strlps 90 (mm. 1x3) ln groups of three, shape them with sand paper.
24) Check the whole and If necessaty sand lt with thtn sand paper. If you want to color the hull, lt ls advisable to color lt now, sińce there are netlher masts nor rlggings, and hull ts easler to handle. We suggest you to apply a flrst coat of varnlsh [a spray one is the
best), to protect wood from dust. Moreover this kind of varnlsh will glve the wood a much morę darker stain and will hlde imperfections.
25) Now glue all decoratlons to the hull. Posltłon ornainents 68 ln holes for cannons and in hawse holes. Then glue Windows 56 at siern, shield 95 (rlghtly palnted), lanterns 97 at Stern [bend leg as shown ln Table 1) and flgurehead 99 at stem. Place chainwale 94 on both sldes of the hull. Drill holes on tack for main brace sali insertlon, then glue decoratlons 92. Prepare anchors 98, tie ropes whlch run forwards on both sldes of stem, then sllng anchors as shown in figurę on Table 1. Apply plates 126 onto channels, followlng (nsiructlons on Table 2 (do not place deadeyes now, they’11 be lnserted later on).
Prepare masts followlng lnstructions and flgures of Table 2. For rlggings follow the seąuence glven ln flgures 34-41. Each number in a sąuare corresponds to a type of rlgging. Consult the Ust of rlggings to check wether each rlgging ls single or double (sx=left, dx=right).
In Fig.3 of Table 2 numbers indicate where the rlgging will be Ued and ln some cases (standing rlggings) also the beginning point (number with letter P).
It is advisable to begin with the lower rigglngs of the mast and then proceed upwards. For yards run central rigglngs flrst and then the exlernal ones.
