ADAPTATION OF LANE S AND SCHWARTZS LEYELS OF EMOTIONAL AWARENESS SCALĘ
S u in m a i y
The paper presents adaplalion of Lcvcls of Emotional Awareness Scalę (LEAS) crealed originally by Lane and Schwartz. According to their theory emotional awareness is a lype ol eognitivc proccssing which undergoes fivc levels of slruclurnl transformation. LEAS is a written. projce(ivc instrument Ihat asks subjccts to dcscribe her or his anlicipaled cmolions and lhose of anolher person in each of 20 scenes dcscribed m 2 to 4 sentences. Scoring criteria allow to cvaluate the dcgrec of diffcrenliation and integration of the words denoting cmolions and the level of emotional awareness or the subjeet. Adaplalion of the scalę was conducted svtth a group of 113 subjccts (aged - 19. cqual number wanien and men) and group of 56 women (aged: 35 to 40). In order to cslablish reliability of the instrument thrcc methods were uscd: I) split-half reliability, 2) interna! reliability and 3) test - retest reliability. Ali results ohtaincd are showing high reliability of LEAS - PL. Validity of the scalę was csalualcd by showing ils positiee correlation wilh ALEX-4() (a qucslionriairc used for a measurement of ttlexithymia) and ncgativc correlation with two vcrbal test of WAIS - R PL: Vocabularv and Comprchcnsion. Construct validity was chccked by group differences (women and men).
