Grain runs this direction
1.5" long "pan head" or "button head" screws (countersink screws risk splitting the wood)
Recess for head of carriage bolt. Square out middle part of hole with a knife.
Cut shallow (2 mm) dados on the back of the błock for the hose damp to pass through, and round the ends with a file or chisel.
After making this part, cut or sand half a millimeter off either side, so that it won't rub against the mounting brackets.
