FITTING INSTRUCTION. No. 71. .    29. 4. 1966.

Before proceeding with any work, read fitting instructions carefully and wtien commencing the installation follow the order laid out in the instructions.

If this kit is to be fitted to Microbus, Transporter or Caravette first read supplementary instructions. No. 72.

Any reference in text to left hand or right hand components or instal lations to be taken as viewed from rear of car.

Do not discard any parts removed until the conversion is completed.

Disconnect battery and number piąte lamp cable.

Remove the three bolts securing each bonnet hinge to body. Remove bonnet complete with spring.

Disconnect all Controls from carburettor and fuel pipę from pump. Unbolt and remove carburettor/air cleaner assembly . (Photo 1).

Fan housing removal:- Remove hoses befween fan housing and heat exchangers. Release pulley nut on dynamo and remove fan belt. Disconnect wiring on regulator and release H.T. lead from coil. Remove pług leads from fan housing elips. From beneath car, remove four screws securing dirt shield to crankcase on right hand side. Remove thermostat securing bolt and unscrew thermostat from control rod.

On some models an air throttle ring is fitted to restrict air entering the fan housing inlet. If this is fitted, release the two securing bolts, remove and discard. Loosen off strap securing dynamo to supporf bracket and remove one screw from each end of fan housing. Remove clip, sleeve and spring from end of throttle cable, and withdraw throttle guide tubę from housing. Lift fan housing vertically and support, whilst re-moving three nuts securing oil cooler radiator to engine. (Photo 2).

A loss of approximately '₇ pint of oil can be expected when lifting oil cooler.

Preserve the rubber seals located on engine for oil cooler feed and błock off holes whilst carrying out work to avoid dirt penetration. Lift oil cooler into fan housing and remove housing unit, feeding throttle cable through housing.

Manifold removalRemove metal cover plates over junctions of carburettor pre-heater pipę and exfiaust system. Remove all nuts securing inlet manifold to engine and lift off manifold. (Photo 3).
