DON'T WORRY, IT'S NOT AS DIFFICULT AS IT LOOKS
1 . How do I chaiige tnę plugs?
The rear pair of cylinders can be reached with the V.W. toolkit box-spanner or a normal long-socket with extension.
For tbe front pair of cylinders use the V.W. toolkit box-spanner with the special short tommy-bar supplied with the Sprint Kit. Passyourhand round the inlet manifold as shown in Photo 2.
If a pług is jammed in too tight to be moved with the short tommy-bar it will be necessary to remove a carburetłor-assembly. This is quite a simple operation, see below.
2. How do I get ot the carburettors ?
Ali normal adjustments, idle speed, idle mixture and synchronisation are accessible. Details are given in the Kit Fitting Instruction, No. 71 .
To get a carbureffor out for servicing, remove the two nuts and bolts holding the steady bracket, (Photo 3 shows the bolts with fan housing removed) disconnect the throttle-link and remove the two nuts on the flange of the inlet manifold (one is just visible in Photo 2). Then slip off the rubber balance-pipe hose, disconnect the fuel pipę, and lift out the carburettor-manifold assembly as in Photo 4.
The joint at the inlet manifold flange is sealed by a rubber "O" ring permitting removal and replacement many times before it is necessary to renew.
3. What about Engine Remoyal and Replacement ?
Just remove the carburettor assemblies as above and proceed in the normal V.W. manuał sequence. Replace the engine with carburettor assemblies off but inlet-manifold adaptors in position on ports. Fit up carburettors with engine in car.
