Short on the technique of masking.
With masking, you can build an entire scene of different motives. The technique is based on the first stamp motif, and then built on further with different subjects or texts. That way, you will get a 3D sense of the image. Remember to make the motive that you want the front first, and then motives 2 and 3 and so on. It is not as difficult as it sounds, but good practise to learn thinking how you you want your motives to end up. I am going to show how I do.
Stamps: Tilda with Christmas and stamp Jul Goat and finally a beautiful christmas text from Magnolia.
PAD: Versa Fine Onyx Black (Water-proof) Watercolor Paper 300 gr. Post-it notę, or thin-copy paper is just as good. A good smali scissors to cut details.
Stamping the first scene that you want at the front of the watercolor paper.
I have chosen the stamp with Tilda on.
Then stamp Tilda again settled on a Post-it lap.Det is what is the "mask" I stamps near the edge to use glue that is on the back. It is good that the motive is fixed on watercolor paper, when you stamp the next motive on. Cut out the motive carefully all along the black lines.
I would like to show a step further. And I choose to mask in a suitable Christmas text.
Add the Cutout post-it notes with Tilda, over the stamped motive. The mask is now in place. Now stamp the second motive. I have chosen the straw tick as motive and it will be placed behind Tilda.
Now we have masked 2 pices of stamps and the motive is ready to be painted. Now we can continue to do , if you choose to have multiple motives.
In this way you can build an entire scene and different motives.
