hang by the hands in the Roman Kings or a Trapeze, with arms strctched and all muscles of the shoulders, trunk and legs relaxed. The feet may rest on the floor, but the whole Wright of the body .should puli downwards from the arms. Tlien swing the body to and fro, or round in circlcs. A slight cun aturc is vcry common amongst school children who seldom give thcmselyes time to take up a proper sitting position with tlie legs sipiare in front of the body. but allow both legs to remain on one sicie, with the opposite shoukler and elbow thrust out to the other sidc, so that the body is kept for long periods in a twisted position, especially when writłng. In severe cascs one side of the chest is underdevclopcd. Thcn Exercise No. 4, ist or ind degree " B," should be uscd as a special exercise, but without changc in the brcathing, so that espiration always takes place when bending to the side least deeelopcd, and inspiration each time the trunk is bent to the other side.

Diabetes. Doctors1 prescriptions on diet are verv important here. All my exercises which move the trunk in the waistline, thereby toning up the internal organs of assimilation and metabohsm, are good for this condition. Further, deep breathing and skin-rubbing exercises, air and sun-baths help vcry materially.

Flatfootkdness. .Many people eironcously imayine that tliey—or their children—have llat feet. The short but highly arched foot is by no means the classical shape. The ancicnt Greek statues, both małe and female, have always long feet. with a rather Iow instep. Now, to ascertain if your feet are really " dat," make the following test: Dip the whole of the soles into water and walk a few steps with your natural gait. If the tiuinid prints on the floor are widest in the middle. then you are flat-footed, but if they are narrow in the middle, you are certainly not. The best exercisc to cure this defect is the special foot cxercise (see page 114). Or sirnply stand with liccls together. risc high upon the tocs whilc y*ou inhale, lower the heels again slowly, exhalitig, and repeat up to lifty times. As to the necessary preliminary esercises, see "Ankles, weak."
