Establish that we use compounds with person/ place or thing and refer Ss to the table in their books. Remind Ss that any is generally used with negatives and questions.
Needs to be madÄ™ elear to Ss that the 2nd and 3rd examples are one word not two, i.e. somewhere not some where.
5 Ask Ss to read through the description of Andys town. Is he generally positive or negative about his town? (negative). Then ask Ss to complete the gaps with words from the box, deciding if he is referring to a person, place or thing.
6 Ss can work in pairs to write a few notes summarising their opinions. Ask Ss to read some of their ideas to the class and compare their opinions. Does everyone feel the same way?
