All Type 1 models have new brake drums. The hubs have star-shaped reinforcement ribs.

"Panama beige" for the VW 1300 and the 4 seater con-vertible has been replaced by "sea sand'. New designs and colors have been introduced for the interior trim of all 1.3 liter 4 seater models. 6 different colors of the carpeting and floor coverings harmonize with the respec-tive interior trim. With cloth upholstery the complete trim is available in "platinum, teak or amazonas". With le-atherette seats the colors are “pigalle red, platinum. balearic blue and black". There is a selection of interior trims for a few exterior colors.

A further innovation to the 1.3 liter Sedan and 4 seater Convertible which will be welcomed by all VW owners: The front seat backrests are now secured against un-intentional folding forward. The interesting point is that both sides are secured as opposed to one side which is usually the case. A lever which is easily accessible from the back seat automatically releases the locking device. lf the person getting in only has one hand free. the back* rest can be fully tilted forward by lifting the lever still further.
