This 3,500 mJ complex is locatcd next to the Ulm Munster Cathedral with its celebrated 161 m spire, which was spared in thesaturation bombmg of 1944 that destroyed eighty-five percent of the city. Meier, who was also called on to redesign the square itself, has succecded well in ■ntegrating his modern, geometrie design into this irregular and historically important settmg.
