Christian de Portzamparc, author of one of the towers in the Euralilie complex, is also in the process of rebuilding the Paris Palais des Congrfes, located at the Porte Maillot in the French Capital. The program indudes the refurbishment of 13,606 m2 of existing spaces, and the creation of 49,915 m2 including exhibition spaces, offices and a 550-seat conference room for the Paris Chamber of Commerce. This extra space is to be obtained by moving the facade forward and restructuring the very busy Porte Maillot roundabout. The facade itself will be skewed forward, with large openings and external signs offering a elear hint of what is going on within. Because of its sensitivity to the urban environment in this admittedly difficult site, where there is little neighboring architecture, the Palais de Congrds project, visualized through the form of computer-generated perspectives, represents an interesting solution to the frequently posed problem of adaptive reuse in city centers.
