Platę 5 Rural workers, early 14th century, English
The six małe figures all wear loose cotes of simple cut pouched over belts without any suggestion of shirts beneath; notę the tucking-up of the skirts some of which have front slits. All have well-fitted hose and ankle shoes and one wears a round hat which is probably felt: he has a button or brooch fastening the neck of his cote. The others wear hoods with short points, one open and buttoned under the chin, one thrown back on the shoulders, and one worn on the back of the head. The ploughman and the driver, top left and top right, both wear divided mittens.
The two female figures appear to be 'indoors': each wears a loose cote pouched over a belt, with sleeves which fit well on the forearm and are turned back at the wrists. They are barefoot and wearing their hair loose, though the one on the left has a narrow barbette and fillet. She is using a pair of wool combs. The one on the right is spinning from a distaff.
