Use 55ml/1/4 cup white vinegar mixed with 170ml/3/4 cup of hot water to wipe away hard water stains. Help shower doors stay cleaner by wiping them with a mixture of tea tree oil and water.
To help avoid clogged drains. pour 30g/1/4 cup baking soda down weekly. Rinse thoroughly with hot water. There was a test conducted that found out that the bathroom sink drain has morę bacteria than the toilet! In fact the least contaminated area in the bathroom is the toilet seat and the most contaminated area is the sink drain. Pour straight vinegar down your bathroom sinks weekly to keep them clean.
If the grout between your tiles is looking hard. dip a toothbrush in fuli strength vinegar and gently scrub.
To clean grout, put 345g/3 cups baking soda into a medium-sized bowl and add 225ml/1 cup warm water. Mix into a smooth pastę and scrub into grout with a sponge or toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly and dispose of leftover pastę when finished.
To treat mouldy tile grout on bathroom walls. fili a spray bottle with 110ml/1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide and 225ml/1 cup water. Spray onto mouldy areas, let sit for an houn then rinse off.
Alternatively try the General Tea Tree Oil Spray described in the recipe chapter. (ie: Combine 2 teaspoons of tea tree oil in 450ml/2 cups of water in a spray bottle.) Shake to blend and spray grout to repel mould and mildew. While this formula won't take away the mould discoloration, it will kill the mould.
You may want to wear a mask and long gloves to protect yourself from the mould spores, when cleaning the grout. Dry vapour steam cleaners also work great on mould in grout.
Hairbrushes and combs can be cleaned in a baking soda solution.
