The fragrance choice for oils in your carpet sprinkle is personal.
Some suggestions are:
For spring and summer try 15 drops lavender oil. 5 drops rosę oil, 2 or 3 drops musk oil. Lavender has a clean smell and is also somewhat of a bug repellent. Recent studies indicate that the essential oils of lemon thyme. sweet marjoram, rosemary, basil and thyme also look very promising for insect repelling properties.
When the bugs decide they prefer your home to the great outdoors, try combining 15 drops of lavender with 5 drops of citronella oil. You might wish to try equal amounts of both. In either case 2 or 3 drops of a floral musk fragrance oil are recommended to provide an overlying sweet floral scent.
During winter the smells of pine and cedar or the Christmas smells of cinnamon and cloves invoke feelings of warm holiday cheer. Use fragrance oils to create these moods.

There are several things to be aware of before cleaning carpet stains. Firstly. when removing stains from carpeting, never apply heat to the stain because this will lock in the stain and removal will be next to impossible.
Secondly. be aware of the problem of "wicking”. Wicking is when the stain-ing agent gets deep down into the base of the carpet. When you clean the carpet. you might remove only the stain from the top carpet fibres. In time, the liquid that's left in the base of the carpet is absorbed by the fibres and works rts way back to the top of the carpet causing the stain to reappear.
To avoid wicking, try cleaning the stain with your stain fighting solution of choice and then covering with a thick towel. Race books or other weights over the towel to absorb all the liquid. Leave for a few hours or over night. In the morning lift the towel and do any necessary cleaning.
