5.    Read Embroidering, page 95 Use green floss to backstitch veins on large leaves. Use yellow floss ta secure flower centers to flowers with a large cross j stitch.

6.    Glue flower sets to towel and washcloth

Shower Curtain and Valance

Yardages are based on 44/4 5 V fabric.

You will need a yellow full-size fiat sheet. tweive 7»" dia. brass grommets and grommet setter. 77-’" square compressed sponge. yellow acrylic paint, paimbrushes, ⁷h yd pink fabric, 7* yd whitc felt, 7* yd yellow fabric.

7» yd each of two green fabrics, 17« yds yellow chenille fabric. thirty-eight 7*" dia. buttons from covered button kits. thirty-eight 7f dia elear buttons. heavy-duty thread. fabric glue. freezer paper, and craft fleece or low-loft batting.

1.    Trimming bottom and one slde, cut sheet to 7272" x 787«“. Press long raw edge '/<" to wrong side. Press 7/ to wrong side again and lopstitch. Repeat with short raw edge

2.    Trim compressed sponge into a 1072" tali diamond. Place sponge in water to expand; sąueeze dry. Read Painting Designs. pages 93-94. Usingthinned paint. sponge paint diamonds across sheet.

3.    Cover buttons with yellow fabric. Use pattem on page 56 to cut 38 flower centers from white felt.

4.    Read Making Flower Sets. page 55. and use pattems on page 56 to make 38 flowers and 38 of each leaf. Omit batting when sewing leaves.

5.    For each flower set, use matching thread to topstitch vetns on leaves and petal lines on flowers. Glue flower center to flower. Use sharp scissors to poke a very smali hole in center of flower. Thread shank of covered button through hole; sew covered button to elear button placed behind flower to secure

6.    Glue 21 flower sets to shower curtain as desired.

7.    Attach evenly spaccd grommets about I" from top of shower curtain.

8.    For valance, cut a 72' x 21" piece of chenille (pieced as necessary). Press each side of valance 7V to wrong side; sew In place. Press bottom of valance 7." to wrong side; sew in place Press top of valance 57i"

to wrong side and topstitch in place along raw edge Measure 37*" above stitchlng linę: stitch across panel, forming rod pocket. Glue remaining flower and leaf sets across bottom of valance

Embeilished Towel Set

Yardages are given to make one 16' x 30" hand towel and jj 13" syuare washclolh. You may need to adjust tfte amount J fabric and trim.

You will need hand towel and washcloth; I yd pinll chenille jumbo rickrack; I V« yds blue double-fold bil tape; scraps of blue. yellow. pink. green. and green I polka-dot fabric; scraps of craft fleece or low-loft I batting; yellow and green embroidery floss; 7a yd I yellow bali fringe; fabric glue; and freezer paper

I For towel, cut a 2" x 19" strip of green fabric. Cutl two 19" strips of bias tape. Slip one strip of bias t$fl over each long raw edge of green fabric. Fold and (E each short end of strip 7i" to wrong side. Pin strip I onto towel 2' from one short end. wrapping ends o9 strip to back. Topstitch along each length of bias I tape. Cut an 18" length of rickrack; sew to center cm strip Cut five balls from bali fringe; glue on top of I rickrack at evenly spaced intervals 2.
