Updating the Admiralty Information Overlay (AIO) in Planning Station

The information in the Admiralty Information Overlay is updated in parallel with the issue of updates of the Admiralty ENC service AVCS.

In Planning Station, each time an AVCS update is requested, an update can also be requested for the AIO. The AIO will be displayed as GB800001. The screen shot below shows an update request for two AVCS cells and you will see that the AIO is also displayed in the list by default.

In order to receive updates to the AIO tick the box next to 06800001. A pop up box appears warning you that the AIO updates contain images and although the UKHO has madę data volume as smali as possible this may mean that in some weeks a larga amount of data will be downloaded. These updates are also avai!able by weekly CD.

If you are happy to continue, enter the edition/update number of the AIO you currently have installed. When you have done this click Yes' and submit the order.

Fulfilment of Digital Chart Updates

How your update order is fulfilled depends on your Communications method set up in Planning Station. For morę information on the Communications methods avaiiable please see the Planning Station User Guide.

Updating Products by HTTPs: When Planning Station is operated in HTTPs modę it will be constantły connected with the ADS server. The ‘Get Update' button will transmit a reąuest and receive any updates directly and apply them automatically to your digital charts on Planning Station.

Updating Products by email: When Planning Station is operated in email modę it will automatically send emails to the ADS server. The 'Get Update’ button will email a reąuest to the ADS server. A reply from the server to the email account on the Planning Station Computer will automatically update the your digital charts on Planning Station.

Updating Products by removable drive: When Planning Station is operated in removable drive modę the removabłe drive must be connected to the Computer. The ‘Get Update’ button will automatically save a reąuest file to the drive. Take the removable drive with the reąuest file on to the Communications Computer and email it to the ADS server, following the instructions in the Maillnfo.txt file saved on the removable drive. A reply email is received with an attachment. Save the attachment and upload to Planning Station by selecting Tools > Apply Update.
