Sumniary
The article deals with results of reconstruction and updating of multistorey buildings of old construction. Engineering solution for substitution of physically worn out inner bear-ing walls and wooden ceilings for incomplete reinforced concrete frame having fiat pre-cast and cast-in-situ ceiling disks of hollow-core slabs built inside existing bulk of build-ing has been realized. Connection of ceilings with bearing walls being preserved is madę by means of cast-in-situ reinforced concrete. Possibility of arranging balconies on pro-jecting cantilevers has been demonstrated. Strength, stiffness, reliability and fire safety, as well free layout of premises, improved level of consumer ąualities, minimum specific resources consumption are provided.

By now urban housing facilities have accumulated rather large amount of buildings having medium number of stories (up to 4...5 stories) of old construction with brick and panel walls, and floors on wooden beams. In their consumer ąualities such buildings are morally obsolete, and their ceilings due to physical wear after long service have no sufficient strength, are conductive to accidents, do not meet fire safety reąuirements and are subject to repair and replacement, or demolition. The last reąuires additional expenses for dismantling and dispos-al of old structures, re-lay Utilities, supply pipelines, etc., which leads to in-crease of manufacture cost of newly erected premises. Meanwhile, by virtue of town planning situation that has taken shape, and historical traditions some buildings may have status of relics of architecture. Hence the issues of preserva-
