HEAT TREATMENT OF THE ALUMINIUM BRONZE SOLIDIFIED UNDER PRESSURE
ABSTRACT
There has been described the influence of heat treatment (quench hardening and tempering) on the microstructure and Brinell hardness (HB) of BA 1032 aluminium bronze solidified under pressure.
It has been stated that pressing operation performed in liąuid State causes an effective refinement of the structure to such a degree that the process can be considered as interchangeable with heat treatment. However, when a noticeable hardening of the structure is necessary for a massive casting of BA 1032 bronze, both pressing and heat treatment should be applied.
