G mutants rahibit cellular transcription as efficiently as WT VSV.

Inhibition of cellular transcription by VSV is well documented. We next aimed at determining if mutations in the G protein influenced this capacity. Figurę 2 shows that all G mutants efficiently inhibited cellular transcription as early as two hours post-infection with a reduction in RNA synthesis of morę than 50% of that of mock-infected cells. By 8h post-infection, cellular transcription was almost completely abolished. However, the matrix mutant Mmsir failed to efficiently inhibit cellular transcription (P < 0.001 compared to all mutants) confirming results obtained previously (Ahmed et al., 2003).
