Buffalo at the ena of Maj'- for "pretsure on Washington to sup ort tne Polish exile Gk>vemrcent and oppose the Soviet Union boundary dispute". Pointing out that the meeting occurs shortly before the Democratic ana Kepublican National Ccrwentions, Estorick seys thet the rreeting is intended to "demons tratę support for the Polish Govemnent at the moment when the Polish Goveminent may be eonfronted with a severe crises".

The author predicts that tne org&nisers of tne meeting especially seek to win the support of "Kungarisn-Siovak separatists, Oroatin separatists, Serbion Ro yalists, Finnish, Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonisn Nationalists". Estorick declares that ■the oossesses photo-static eopies of doouiaents which tne Polish Aiabassańer tothe USA Ciechanowski and the Press Attachd Besterman wrote anproxi:aately two years agc. exposing Mai.uszewski%s pro-?ascist i de as and accusing the Matuszewski group of in-tcrference with American affairs and disruption of American unity.

Esotick s&ys t at the documents dsclare that after Poland's defeat in Septeober 1939, Matuszewski " hoped to becore a minister of the new Polish Govemiront, but was so involved with the formęr reg ime and had been so close to Pas cist i de as that he could not fit anto a C-ovemroent of national unity ... his rabid opposition *to' Sikorski and the Sikorski Govemment then began."    60

Besterraan said that the Matuszewski group "definitely interfered vatn American affairs and disrupted Aiuerican unity”, tended to destroy rolish unity and ńrnjure Uni -ted Nations" solidarity, showed a "distinct Fascist ideology/ by ”publishing Hun-garian anti-Czech newspapers", and "worked for the disruption of Poiish-Czech re-lations at a tiii>e, when, after yesrs of unpleasanfcness, Polani and ° .echoslovakia had declared in favour of confederation". Ciechanowski said that ..latuszewski "between 1937/39 financed the oihly openly Pascist newspaper in Poland "Jutro Polskę".

Estorick points out that for the past two years Matuszewski has continued an unre-lenting campalgn not only a ainst the Soviet Govermoent, but "against all Russian culture. Contrary to the official efforts of the United States to consolidate relations with the Sowiet Union, the Polish ress for which Matuszewski prowides intellectual leadership proclairaed coilaboration ijmaosslble." Estorick points out that recently Matuszewski dy a series of articles sought to underinine Polish-Air^ricans" support of the Lend-Lease Aot.

Matuszewski with the publisher of "Nowy Świat" and of a pro-Horthy Himg:arian daily formed tne so-called "Knapp" organisation, the "National Conjinittee of Awericans of Polish Docent", to embarrass tne Sikorski overruuent. After Sikorski%s death "Knapp" succeeded in enlisting the support of many conservative-li eral e-lements of the Polish-American co-anunity. Ferhaps the most prominent is the Pre: ident of the Polish National Alliance Kozmarek who crginally supported Sikorski.

Declaring that "Knapp" is the chief group behind the Buffalo Con&ress, Estorick says that "Kna.p's" treasurer, tne publisher of "Dziennik Polski", Januszevraki, revealed the political purpose of the meetini. when he i^serted that the votes of Poles, Lithuenians, Estonians, natylans and Pi ns "vdll be directed ay.ai11* tha Ad-ministration whieh sold theso Europęan countries to Soviet Russia".

Estorick points out that Matuszewski finolly was compelled to register with the Dopartment of Justice as a foreign agent. He says that other Polish-i American groups includin: the American Polish Labour Oouncil the Kościuszko Lea £UO, and
