The cost of the 142-foot dish is esti-mated at a bont $250.000. Spccial use of welded stmctmal members and alu-minuin fahrication methods will cut some costs 90 per-ccnt in comparison with other big dishes. The antenna is designed for use at frequencies betwcen 20 and 2000 mc. The transmitter is \alued at morę than a million dollars. The toial imestment will be around $1,500,000. it is estimated.
The largest U. S. radio telescope, now under construction. is a 140-foot dish at the National Radio Astronomy Ob-senatory in Grecn Banks, West Vir-ginia.
