Dałam kegiatan komunikasi sehari-harl kita sering berandai-andai yaitu mengandaikan sesuatu terjadi pada diri kita, sehlngga dengan begitu kita dapat melakukan sesuatu. Kalimat pengandaian tersebut dałam bahasa Inggrfe sering disebut Conditional Sentences.

Terdapat dua clause dałam kalimat pengandaian, (l) Klausa pengandaian atau-eenng cfisebut "If dause"dan (2) Klausa harapan atau kemungkinan, atau sering disebut Result dause atau dauseof expedation. Dałam bahasa Inggrts kita mengenal bga jenis conditional sentence, yang masing-masing memiliki esensi yang berbeda-beda.

1.    Conditional Sentence Type l : True in the present time, dengan fungsi utama untuk mengungkapkan suatu rencana (pian), nasehat (adwce), atau kemungk.nan (possibiiity).

2.    Conditional Sentence Type 2 : Untrue in the present time, fungsi utama adalah untuk mengungkapkan suatu khayalan (imogination), atau angan-ang-ir oodoh Dełaka.
