100 times more information than other approaches
such as RAPDs or RFLPs. AFLP

allows for the
selective amplification of restriction fragments
from a digest of genomic DNA. LI-COR

There are five basic steps in the AFLP
®
process:
1)
Restriction digest of genomic DNA.
2)
Ligation of oligonucleotide adapters.
3)
Pre-selective amplification.
4)
Selective amplification.
5)
Electrophoresis of the fragments on a
LI-COR instrument.
In addition to a variety of AFLP
®
reagents, there
are several kits available:

The Template Preparation Kit is used in
steps one through three of the AFLP
®
process and prepares 100 templates.
•
Selective Amplification Kits are used for
the fourth step in the AFLP
®
process. These
kits selectively amplify 25 templates with
64 different primer combinations, for a total
of 1600 reactions.
•
Startup Kits include both a Template
Preparation Kit and a Selective
Amplification Kit at an economical price.
