SUBJECT: Mast Hangers and Hanger Bushings

Vista 2Stg., 3Stg., and FL.

There are two new options available for servicing mast hanger bushings on the S/E 70-120XL series trucks.
Both options incorporate phenolic bushings to replace the original steel backed bronze bushings. The bushings
are retained in the hangers by means of pins or plugs.

Drive axle housing journals should be in good condition or returned to their proper specifications of 5.311"-
5.315" diameter with a 125 micro-inch finish before servicing with new bushings.

For service use only the original steel backed bronze faced bushing P/N 373226 has been reinstated under a
new number P/N 1376399.

OPTION I REPLACEMENT BUSHING KIT (P/N 1380118)

This kit contains replacement phenolic mast hanger bushings, which can be used to service the original bushing
P/N 373226. A modification to the hanger cap is required for this bushing and is depicted below.

OPTION II IMPROVED HANGER ASSEMBLIES AND BUSHINGS.

This is the hanger assembly and bushing that is currently being used in production. The hangers provide im-
proved retention of the thicker phenolic bushings to increase service life and can be used to replace the original
style hangers and bushings.

Reference welding instructions WI-A-41(Rev.2)for OPTION II. These instructions are included with hanger
assembly, P/N 1376375.
