When you first turn the lights on they will click to reset the gobos inside. After they have stopped making a noise the digital display should be flashing. It will flash C 0 0 0 for sound to light mode which it should be in. If it does not say this, for example it flashes C 0 2 2 you need to press the down button 22 times to get it to say C 0 0 0.
When you press the menu/option button the display should show a "L" and then a "C". L stands for lock, so if you press the select button when L is displayed, and then use the up and down buttons it should display "y" for yes and "n" for no. Make sure it is on "n" otherwise you wont be able to change the DMX channel number.
Once the light is displaying C 0 0 0 then if you tap the microphone on the back, the light should move and change as you tap it.
For the best light show without using an external controller you need to connect all the lights together by using DMX cable, which is the same as audio cable. Please see the link http://www.djkit.co.uk/product.php?id=3237&cat=318
If you find some shorter lengths then it will be less expensive.
You will need three of those cables to link the four lights together. Cables go from the output of one light, to the input of the next.
Once they are all connected set the first light in the chain to C 0 0 0, set the next to C 0 0 1, the next to C 0 0 1 and the last one to C 0 0 1. This will make the lights all do the same thing and move to the beat of the music, so the scanners will move in the same direction and will be the same colour and the barrels will do the same. This is running the lights in master slave mode. The first light set to C 0 0 0 is the master and the rest are the slaves. If you want the light to move in opposite direction you would set them up as follows-
The first light C 0 0 0,
2nd light C 0 0 7
3rd Light C 0 0 1
4th Light C 0 0 7
This is in the sequence scanner, barrel, barrel, scanner. You can have it in any sequence you wish, and it is best to experiment with the DMX channels to see which you like the look of best. The external controllers which you buy have to be programmed with a light show yourself. I did this with the lights but it did take a very long time. With my new lights I just use them as sound to light in master slave mode as it is much easier. I used a controller similar to this http://www.djkit.co.uk/product.php?id=2990&cat=318. The controllers are very hard to programme and I wouldn’t recommend buying one if you have no knowledge of DMX Lighting programmes.
