We use the second conditional:

 

To express imaginary or improbable situations in the present or future and their results.

E.g.: If she played better, she would win the match.

 

 

 

To give an advice.

E.g.: If I were you, I would study harder.

If someone screamed in the house next door, I would call the police

If my car was working. I´d drive you to the station

If you did more exercise, you might feel better.

 

 

If I were you , I´d see a doctor about that cough.

Supply the correct tense of the verb in brackets:

Imagine you are a parent giving advice to a teenager. Use the expression If I were you…..

You can´t get up in the morning for school.
