How to bypass a Renault car immobiliser using its bypass de-activation code

For use with cars that have an infra-red key

What is it?

Some Renault cars have an inbuilt system that enables you to override the immobiliser should the infra-red key fob cease to work. This is useful to emergency and recovery services should they need to move a dead vehicle.

The Immobiliser Bypass Code is a four digit numeric code that is unique to each car. This code can be obtained by running a small downloadable Windows 32 bit software application and entering the specifics of your car.

This technique can only be used to override the immobiliser on a vehicle for which you have the key or key number so don't go thinking you can use this method to steal cars!

So, if you have found that the infra-red key fob for your Renault car is no longer de-activating the immobiliser, this bypass technique can be used as a temporary work around to start the car until you can get it fixed properly by a dealer.

How does it work?

The application that is available for download here (plik jest dołączony do tego dokumentu) will enable you to find out what the immobiliser bypass code is for your car. Once you have the code you can use it for as long as you need, there is no limit as to how many times you can enter it.

Will it work for me?

To find out if this system will work for your car, try the following test:

• If your vehicle has a central locking button on the dash/centre console:

1. Switch on the ignition.

2. Press and hold the central locking button.

3. If the immobiliser light stops blinking and changes to a slow flash, this system will work for you.

If your vehicle does NOT have a central locking button on the dash/centre console:

1. Switch on the ignition.

2. Press and hold the accelerator pedal (you may also need to press the button on the end of the windscreen wiper stalk).

3. If the immobiliser light stops blinking and changes to a slow flash, this system will work for you.

How do I do it?

Entering the bypass code:

• If your vehicle has a central locking button on the dash/centre console:

1. Download the ZIP file that contains the RenaultImmCode.exe application from here (plik jest dołączony do tego dokumentu).

2. Extract the two files from the ZIP file and read the ReadMe.txt file which contains some simple instructions.

3. Run the RenaultImmCode.exe file and enter your car type number (nie znasz swojego kodu - czytaj niżej How do I find my car type number?).

4. Enter the code on the sticker inside your key or the key numbers from the front of your service book.

5. Make a note of the four digit bypass code which should be displayed.

6. Press Enter twice to exit the application.

7. Get into your car, switch on the ignition and hold the central locking button down and the red immobiliser light will start to flash slowly.

8. Count out the number of flashes and release the central locking button when it matches the number of the 1st digit of your bypass code.

9. Now hold down the central locking button and count the flashes up to the 2nd digit of the bypass code and release.

10. Repeat the above step for the 3rd and 4th digits.

Re-synching the key fob (may not always work):

11. With all bypass digits entered, turn off the ignition.

12. Hold down the central locking button. The immobiliser lights should remain constantly on.

13. Point your key fob at the IR sensor near the internal rear view mirror and press on/off quickly. Hopefully the key should now be re-synched.
    If it is not, wait for the immobiliser light to start flashing and try steps 12-13 again making sure the ignition is off. It may take a few goes or may not work at all in which case you'll have to see your dealer to have it reprogrammed.

If your vehicle does NOT have a central locking button on the dash/centre console:

1. If you don't have central locking you just need to substitute the pressing of the central locking button with the accelerator instead in the above instructions (you may also need to press the button on the end of the windscreen wiper stalk).

How do I find my car type number?

Your car type number will be printed on the Oval Plate which has been used for the identification of Renault vehicles since 1909. The location and design was changed several times during that period.

In vehicles produced before 1995 You will find the oval plate in engine compartment. It is made of aluminium and can be located separate or together with obligatory Vehicle Manufacturer Plate.

In vehicles produced after 1995 the Oval Plate is made from plastic in form of sticker located on right side middle door pillar. It can be seen by opening front passenger door.

If you have trouble finding your car type number, some people have been given it by their dealer.

The car type number is indicated by the number 9 in the diagram below.

From 1995

Before 1995

The car type number is indicated by the number 1 in the diagram below.

I. Renault remote key fobs are sometimes reffered to as Renault plips, Renault zappers, remotes, remote plips or remote zappers. All of these common phrases can be used to describe a Renault remote key fob.

3. release the pedal and the tell tale light will flash again

4. repeat the same operation for the next 3 digits of the code

At the end of the code the tell tale light should be continuously on

: if it is flashing the code is incorrect, swith off the ignition and try again

: if you enter it incorrect 3 times you have to wait 15 mins to enter it again

II. Rozwiązanie banalne i nawet chyba opisane w instrukcji. Otwieramy auto sprawnym kluczykiem, wsiadamy, wciskamy nadajnik niedziałającego kluczyka i trzymamy aż dioda przestanie migać. Następnie robimy dwa krótkie przyciśnięcia i jeśli wszystko jest sprawne (kluczyk) to już powinno zacząć działać. U mnie pomogło.

III. Jak się nam zablokuje immobilizer i nie możemy odpalić naszego wspaniałego autka to jest możliwe otrzymanie kodu awaryjnego w ASO, który jest 4 lub 8 cyfrowy

wprowadzenie tego kodu odblokowuje immobilizer czasowo

jeżeli masz kod 4 cyfrowy to możesz go wprowadzić sam, ale jak masz 8 cyfrowy to pozostaje tylko przytargać autko do ASO i podpiąć tam pod kompa serwisowego

są dwa warunki uzyskania kodu :

- trzeba być właścicielem auta

- trzeba mieć ze sobą dowód rejestracyjny

są dwie metody wprowadzania kodu 4 cyfrowego:

- poprzez przycisk w przełączniku wycieraczek

- poprzez przycisk centralnego zamka w tunelu środkowym

Jeżeli masz przycisk w przełączniku wycieraczek to robisz to tak:

przekręcasz kluczyk w stacyjce tak, żeby zapaliły sie wszystkie kontrolki (kontrolka z zygzakiem powinna szybko migać - to świadczy o zablokowaniu immobilizera) wciskasz pedał gazu i naciskasz przycisk w przełączniku wycieraczek tyle razy ile ma 1 cyfra ( np. dla cyfry 4 naciskasz 4 razy) , puszczasz gaz, potem ta sama czynność z drugą i tak dalej do ostatniej, jeżeli się pomylisz z jakąś cyfrą to wystarczy wyłączyć i włączyć stacyjkę (ale wtedy całą operację trzeba przeprowadzać od nowa).

W przypadku przycisku cała operacja wygląda podobnie.

W ASO jest również możliwe wyłączenie immobilizera na stałe - ale trzeba to zrobić podpinając auto pod komputer.

ODP_użytkownika: W tym wypadku muszę zaprzeczyć - po wklepaniu kodu przez przycisk na przełączniku wycieraczek immobilizer wyłączył mi się na stałe - chyba, że mam coś popsutego. Na razie już ponad 2 miesiące nie mam immobilizera i centralnego z kluczyka a w ASO nic nie potrafią zrobić - partacze (serwis Łomża i Białystok)

IV. Kluczyk nie działał więc wymieniłem baterię, zaczęła migać kontrolka w kluczyku... więc OK, wsiadłem do auta zamknąłem go, potem przez około 5 sec przytrzymałem guzik zamykania na konsoli centralnej miedzy fotelami, potem wcisnąłem guzik w kluczyku i trzymałem tak długo aż załapał... i stała się jasność, zamek zaczął zamykać i otwierać, zaczęła migać po zamknięciu kontrolka autoalarmu (wcześniej nie migała) no i sam alarm po otwarciu drzwi również dał o sobie znać.
