1. Start the engine and run at idle.
2. Connect a vacuum pump to the vacuum connector on the EGR valve.
3. Apply vacuum to the EGR valve, the engine should run rough or stall at or above 2.59 in/Hg (65mm/Hg).
4. If the engine does not run rough or stall as 2.59 in/Ha (65 mm/Hg) vacuum is exceeded, replace the EGR valve.
Removal (EGR VALVE)
1. Disconnect the vacuum hose at the EGR valve.
2. Remove the EGR valve by removing the two mounting bolts.
Installation (EGR VALVE)
1. Position the EGR vvalve gasket. Always install a new EGR ralve gasket when installing and EGR valve.
2. Install the two EGR mounting bolts and tighten.
Tighten the bolts to 19 lb-ft (26 N·m)
3. Connect the vacuum hose to the EGR valve. To inspect the following items, refer to Electrical Troubleshooting Manual. Mass Air Flow Sensor Throttle Position Sensor EGR Solenoid Idle Speed Controller Fuel Injector - Resistance Checks
