It is worth pointing out that the
material is aimed at providing some
basic cultural information rather than
exploiting grammar and lexis or
practising matura-oriented skills.
1. Get the students to answer the
questions. This can be done either in
pairs or small groups or as a whole class
activity. It is not advisable to assist them
by providing key vocabulary at this
point. To check their answers, students
scan the text quickly in order to find
specific information.
Time needed: app. 5-10 minutes
2. Students read the text more carefully
and complete the gaps with the words
and phrases from the box given. Even
though some items might look
unfamiliar, they should be perfectly
capable of completing the task by means
of the context.

an Easter greeting card to a foreign
friend.
Please note that the card has not been
devised as an exam-related task, but
instead encourage students to be
creative, amusing and original.
