Cozy Flowered Headband
This ultra-warm headband is perfect for those crisp days in late fall. Just as cozy as a hat,
easy to wear, and makes a great gift – whip one up in an afternoon!
Materials:
- US J (6 mm) hook
- 1 ball Loops &
Threads Santa Fe
Striped Roving in
Amber Stripes
- Yarn needle
Headband:
Ch 6
Row 1: Dc in fourth ch from hook (skipped 3 chs count as dc), dc in next 2 dc, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each dc across. Turn.
Row 3 (increase): Ch 3, dc in first sc, dc in each sc across, ending 2 dc in last sc. (6 dc)
Repeat Rows 2-3 until you have a total of 10 sts. Turn.
Now work even in the sc row, dc row pattern, until you have 36 rows total.
Decrease Dc Row: Ch 3, dc2tog, dc in each sc across to last 2 sc, dc2tog. (8 dc) Turn.
Next Row: Ch 1, sc in each dc across. Turn.
Repeat Decrease Dc Row. (6 dc). Turn.
Next Row: Ch 1, sc in each dc across. Turn.
Repeat Decrease Dc Row. (4 dc). Turn.
Next Row: Ch 1, sc in each dc across. Turn.
Buttonhole: Ch 5, skip 3 sc, sl st in last sc. Ch 1, turn to work over loop, 6 sc in loop. Do not
fasten off.

Edging:
Continue to sc across long edge, working 2 sc in each dc row end and 1 sc in each sc row end.
Work 2 sc in corners. Sl st to first sc at end, fasten off.
Flower:
Ch 4, join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, work 12 sc in ring, sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same sc as last sl st, *ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * 5 times,
ending ch 3, sl st in first sc.
Rnd 3: Sl st into next ch-3 space, ch 1, work (sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc) in same space for petal, *(sc,
hdc, dc, hdc, sc) in next ch-3 space, repeat from * around, join with sl st in first sc (6 petals).
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc around post of sc below on Rnd 2, ch 4, repeat from * around, join with sl st in
first sc.
Rnd 5: Sl st into next ch-4 space, ch 1, work (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) in same space for petal, * (sc,
hdc, 3 dc hdc, sc) in next ch-4 space, repeat from * around, join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.
Button:
For the button, you can either buy your own button (at least 1.5” in diameter), or you can make
this super cool button by following a tutorial by April of the Salt for the Spirit blog. Here is the

Finishing:
Sew the outer petals of the flower onto the headband wherever you like. (I like my flowers off-
center, so I stuck mine on the side). Sew the button at the end of the headband (the end
without the buttonhole, obviously). And you’re done! Enjoy your super-cozy headband.
