The Addison Headband

Materials: ww(4) yarn ( I used I Love This Cotton from Hobby Lobby)
Coordinating button
H hook, Measuring Tape, Tapestry Needle
Stitches used:
(ch)chain, (sl st) slip stitch, (sc) single crochet, (hdc)half double croche
Determine which size you’ll need. The headband will only stretch about 2 inches
so be sure to measure a child if you can because not all head sizes will be the same
as the chart below.
0-3 mo
approx. 13-15 inches
3-6 mo
approx. 15-17 inches
6-12 mo
approx. 17-19 inches
1-3 years
approx. 18-20 inches
4+ years
approx. 19-22 inches
Pre-teen-Womens - 21-23 inches
Chain an even amount of chains to the desired length un-stretched
Join with sl st, ch 1 ( be sure your chain isn’t twisted)
Rd 1 Sc in 1st chain and each ch around, join with a sl st
Rd 2 ch 4, *(sk 2 sts, ch 2, hdc in next st,) continue from * around until two sts
remain, sk 2 sts, to join st st to 2nd ch of beginning ch 4.
Rd 3 ch 1, sc around in each chain and hdc, Join with sl st to beginning ch 1,
Fasten off and weave in ends.
I love these headbands for my daughters interchangeable bows, clips and crochet
flowers. You can even weave ribbon through the headband and tie a bow for an
extra girly touch!

Optional Flower:
Using a size H hook - ch 4. Join the end to the first chain with a slip stitch to form
a ring. (magic circle)
Round 1: (sc in the ring, ch 3) 6 times. join the last st to the first sc with a sl st
Round 2: (sc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, sc) in each space of ch 3.
Round 3: Now you begin working on the back side of the flower (sc around the
back of the post of the first sc of the last round , then ch 4) 6 times. Join last st to 1
st with a sl st.
Round 4: (sc, ch 1, 5 dc, ch 1, sc) in each space created by the ch 4.
Round 5: Repeat round 3, but ch 5 instead of 4. Join last st to first with a sl st and
weave in ends.
Sew on to headband or attach it to an alligator clip for a detachable clip
If you want to add another layer of petals, repeat Round 3, increasing the number
of stitches in the chain by one, and Round 4, increasing the double crochets by
two.
