Teacher’s Notes
VALENTINE’S DAY

Types of school: primary, grades 4-6
Level: elementary (CEF A1)
Time: 45 minutes.
Preparation: make copies of the worksheet one per
person, find pictures presenting new vocabulary. The
aim of this worksheet is to introduce 20 words
connected with the Valentine’s Day.
They are:
valentine, love, cupid, happy, arrow,
card, February, friends, date, heart, hug, kiss,
flower, chocolates, dove, friendship, sweetheart,
forever, bow, roses.
You can bring some pictures presenting new
vocabulary, if you have. If not, draw some of them
on the board.
Procedure:
1. Draw a heart and
number 14 inside it.
Let students guess the name
of the festival.
2. Introduce the new vocabulary. Present some
flashcards and write the words on the board.
Students should write them down.
3. Distribute the worksheet. Students’ task is to read
the text and then decide whether the sentences
are true or false.

Ex. 2 1c, 2d, 3e, 4g, 5b, 6f, 7a

Examples:
chocolate, valentine, love, friend, date, dove,

Homework
Students should write 10 sentences using words from
this lesson.
